Terrorist Attack on Pakistan Stock Exchange
Four heavily armed terrorists attacked the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Monday morning. Four security guards and a police sub-inspector died in this attack. It has been reported in the media that the four terrorists were also killed in the shootout. The Majid Brigade attached to the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack. The terrorists are said to have entered the stock exchange with the intention of taking people hostage.
The terrorists came in a car. They entered the multi-story building located in the city’s high-security commercial center. The terrorists fired indiscriminately on the main gate of the building and threw grenades. Deputy Superintendent of Police (South), Jamil Ahmed said that militants armed with automatic machine guns, hand grenades, and other explosives tried to enter the courtyard leading from the parking lot to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) building. But the security forces thwarted his attack within the yard.
“The terrorists initially threw grenades and opened fire at his entrance to enter the courtyard. But one of them was killed immediately, then they had to retreat,” he said. Sindh Rangers told that police and Ranger officers reached the spot and killed all four terrorists near the entrance. Police said that four security guards and one police sub-inspector were also killed in the attack.

However, he thwarted his attempt to enter the PSX (also known as Wall Street of Pakistan) located in Karachi. One trader said, “We were very scared thinking what would happen if these terrorists managed to enter the building.” Senior police officer Sharjeel Kharal said the attackers were armed with automatic weapons. Sindh’s Additional Inspector General (IG) Ghulam Nabi Memon said that there was a shootout between the attackers and the security guard and two were killed. The other two managed to enter the gate, but they were held in the compound of the building and they were both killed.
